Doctor Ho Limited provides online courses for parental learners and healthcare professionals.

Our courses for healthcare professionals are designed to support learning of healthcare professionals (e.g. doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and students) who are interested in conducting healthcare research. These courses cover research skills and knowledge to enable and support clinicians to take part in research activities (e.g. systematic review) and aim to promote evidence-based clinical practice.

We offer the following livestream online interactive courses so that you can join our courses and discussion in virtual online meetings:

Course 1:

Introduction to Systematic Review for Healthcare Professionals​​​​

Overview:

This course will discuss how to plan, conduct and organise, and the general principles of a systematic review of literature for healthcare professionals.

 

Topics include:

  • Introduction and preparation for a systematic review

  • Search of articles with practical

  • Selection of articles with practical 

  • Data extraction with practical 

  • Risk of bias assessment with practical 

  • General principles of data synthesis 

 

Please note that topics do not include statistical analysis or related practical.

Course duration:

 

This course will last approximately 5 hours 40 mins (including two 20 mins breaks).

Course 2:

Appraising a medical/ healthcare research article

Overview:

The course will discuss the principles of appraising a medical/ healthcare research article with a practical session in which participants will get a hand-on experience and acquire skills on how to systematically appraise research articles in different domains: 1. Study Population, 2. Measurement of outcomes, 3. Study attrition, 4. Exposure/ prognostic factor(s) measurement, and 5. Statistical data, analysis and reporting.

This course will last approximately 1 hour 30 mins.

Course 3:

Insight into pursuing a postgraduate degree (MSc/ PhD) for healthcare professionals

Overview:

In this course, the speaker will discuss various routes of pursuing a postgraduate degree (MSc/ PhD) for junior doctors, pros and cons of pursuing academic research, lifestyle of being a postgraduate research student, with a Q&A session. Although topics are particularly useful for healthcare professionals, anyone who would like to pursue a MSc/ PhD are welcome to join.

This course will last approximately 1 hour.
